Privacy
Your training data should work for you.
This is the full policy, written to make the important parts easy to find: what kovaa receives, why it is needed, who may process it, and how you stay in control.

Privacy at a glance
No sale of your data
We do not sell personal, Apple Health, or consumer health data.
Health data stays functional
Health data is used for training and recovery, not advertising or marketing.
Connections are optional
Apple Health and Strava connect only when you authorize them.
Delete when you choose
Delete in the app or request deletion by email if you cannot sign in.
This policy covers the kovaa website, iOS app, training plans, support, AI features, Apple Health integration, Strava integration, and related services. Workouts recorded with Apple Watch may be imported through Apple Health; kovaa does not currently offer a watchOS app.
What kovaa collects
Account and plan setup
Name, preferred name, email, account identifiers, gender, goals, race dates, training level and history, preferences, weekly capacity, availability, injury notes, sleep inputs, and support messages you send us.
Training and performance
Plans, workouts, completed or skipped sessions, notes, race results, distance, duration, pace, speed, cadence, power, heart rate, HRV, sleep, recovery, exertion, and related performance metrics.
Connected services
If you connect Strava, kovaa receives the profile, activity, route, workout, and performance data covered by the OAuth permissions you approve. Route and GPS-derived metrics can arrive through Strava or another connected service. The current iOS app does not request device Location Services access.
Device and diagnostics
Device model, operating system, app version, language, region, settings, logs, crash reports, diagnostics, performance data, feature interactions, pages viewed, referrals, and approximate location derived from IP address. Sentry processes limited crash and performance telemetry for us.
Payments
Apple processes App Store purchases. kovaa may receive subscription status, product identifiers, receipts, and transaction metadata, but not your full card number.
How the information is used
- Build, personalize, schedule, and adapt training plans and workouts.
- Understand completed training, recovery context, and progress.
- Import workouts and health context through Apple Health and activities through Strava when you authorize them.
- Provide AI-assisted plan generation, training analysis, and explanations you request.
- Manage trials, subscriptions, receipts, support, security, diagnostics, and service notices.
- Prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our terms, and meet legal obligations.
Apple Health and consumer health data
With your permission, kovaa currently reads workouts, heart rate, active energy, walking and running distance, cycling distance, swimming distance, resting heart rate, heart-rate variability (SDNN), VO2 max, and sleep analysis. kovaa does not currently write data to Apple Health.
Apple Health data is used only for health and fitness functions such as plan personalization, recovery context, workout understanding, and progress analysis. It is not used for advertising, marketing, sale to data brokers, or use-based data mining.
Depending on where you live, training, biometric, fitness, sleep, recovery, or route information may be consumer health data. We process it to provide the service you request, maintain security, comply with law, and for other purposes with your consent.
AI features
When you ask kovaa to generate a plan or analyze training, the information needed for that request may pass through our secure backend to OpenAI. That can include event details, availability, preferences, training history, completed-workout metrics, and other relevant context.
AI output can be incomplete or wrong and is not medical advice. Where Apple rules or applicable law require it, the app must get your permission before personal data is shared with a third-party AI provider. We do not permit Apple Health data to be used for advertising or marketing.
Your controls
- Change Apple Health permissions in iOS Settings or the Health app.
- Disconnect Strava in kovaa or through Strava's authorization settings.
- Manage notifications in device settings or in the app where available.
- Manage an App Store subscription in your Apple account settings.
- Delete your account in the app or follow the steps on our data deletion page.
Retention, deletion, and security
We keep personal information only as long as needed to provide the service, maintain your account, comply with law, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and support legitimate operational needs. In-app deletion removes primary account records and associated user-owned data after confirmation. Limited backup copies may remain until normal backup cycles overwrite them.
Limited records may be retained where required or permitted for security, fraud prevention, tax, accounting, legal, or dispute obligations. We use safeguards including encryption in transit, access controls, monitoring, and least-privilege practices, but no storage or transmission method is completely secure.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, obtain a copy of, restrict, or object to processing of personal information, withdraw consent, or appeal a denied request. EEA and UK residents may also have data portability rights and may complain to a local supervisory authority.
kovaa is intended for people 18 and older and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Information may be processed in the United States or other countries; where required, we use appropriate transfer safeguards.
We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated in the app, on the website, by email, or by another reasonable method.
